Day Eight of Adventures in Paradise!

Alright, today was our third of five sea days until Tahiti! The weather was beautiful and party cloudy for the entire day! Mom and I watched the movie Unknown in their big cinema. Afterwords, we attended an equatorial crossing ceremony with King Neptune. We didn't participate as we knew what would be in store for us if we did. The unluckily participants had to bow before Neptune and his queen, kiss a dead fish, and be pelted with chocolate sauce, hot sauce, sand, and whipped cream by Neptune's men. It was kind of like a college fraternity initiation ritual. After this, we were granted “safe passage” into the southern hemisphere. For lunch, mom and I ate at Izumi, and we had edamame (boiled soybeans), and delicious sushi. Unfortunately, the captain notified us that people had been getting sick by the norovirus. ~3% of the passengers (2100 total, ~60 sick) were affected. Due to this, everyone now has to sanitize their hands before eating, and for the buffet, crew members have to get your food for you. Hopefully it doesn't spread to more people! Today, they had a welcome back party for all cruisers who had sailed Royal Caribbean before. The captain and cruise director spoke to us about their newest ships and congratulated all of us for our loyalty. Tonight's entertainment was a magician/comedian named Nick Lewin. After the show, at 9:10 pm HST (Hawaiian Standard Time), we finally crossed the equator! We all felt a big bump and looked out in the ocean to find a big, glowing red line behind us... just kidding about that one. Okay, tomorrow is a new sea day and we are finally in the Southern Hemisphere, stay tuned!

At the Welcome Back ceremony, the two top cruisers, one (guy in the white collared shirt) with 1600 cruise points (~220 cruises), and one (lady in red shirt) 700 cruise points (~100 cruises) with Royal Caribbean.  The captain is on the far left and the cruise director on the far right.  The lady in the black suit is the loyalty ambassador.
