Day One of Adventures in Paradise!

Okay today was the first day of our big trip! After getting up at 2:30 am, I finally got around to packing due to me being the biggest procrastinator known to man! This took me until 5:30 am. After showering, my mom and I left for church, and after that was over we got back to the house around 9:00 am. After our final checks (passports, boarding passes, cats' food, etc) we left around 9:40 am to drive to Nashville, Tennessee. The drive took around two hours and was very scenic with the rolling hills. The drive took us to the Marriott at the Nashville airport where we parked our car (only $90 for 29 days of parking) and took a shuttle to the airport.

Our first flight went from Nashville to Kansas City and took 1 hour 20 minutes. Then, after an hour layover, we took the final flight from Kansas City to Portland. The flight to Portland was very scenic with the rolling hills transforming into deserts, mountains, and finally redwood forests. Of course, we got to see the very tall Mt. Hood on our arrival into the Portland airport. Both mom and I thought Portland's airport was wonderful, with nice open areas and even a piano player to entertain the crowd. This was in stark contrast to the Kansas City airport which we thought was very claustrophobic.

After our arrival, our friends (Mary and Ed) picked us up and took us to a nice seafood restaurant in Vancouver, Washington called McGrath's. After dinner, we went to their house where we talked and after that, fell right to sleep, exhausted, but ready for the big adventures awaiting us on Day Two of our trip. Stay Tuned!

Below you will find photos illustrating some of the events mentioned above.  Click the picture if you wish to make it bigger.
